A NZ camping expose.
Being all of thirteen and on our first school bush camp, we were all excited about our foray in to the NZ wilderness - 4 days of hiking and roughing it. Me and my girlfriends were in the lead group storming our way along the track. Making a pit stop one of my friends piped up from behind a bush with a question…”I’ve got my period what should I do with my pad?”. I, ever the practical one, advised digging a hole and burying the pad, while another yelled “just chuck it in the bush”. So my friend, ignoring my advice, chucked the used pad, which got caught on the top of a gorse bush over hanging the walking track. My friend realised her error and tried unsuccessfully to knock the pad down. Hearing the second group approaching we scampered off down the track and in the distance we heard “Miss, what’s that hanging off the bush?”.
